🐦 WESTERN CAPE BIRDING & HIDES

Wetlands, Hides, Fynbos & Coast

Cape endemics and great wetlands — the Strandfontein and West Coast NP flamingo pans, Kirstenbosch and Rooi-Els for sugarbirds and rockjumper, the penguins of Stony Point and the Cape gannets of Lambert's Bay. Birding sites, hides, reserves and clubs, filterable by region and type.

💡 Many reserves and hides charge a SANParks, CapeNature or municipal day fee, and a few (Paarl Bird Sanctuary) open by arrangement. The Cape's specials — Cape sugarbird, orange-breasted sunbird, Cape rockjumper, protea canary — are best in the fynbos early in the day; spring adds West Coast wildflowers and waders.
