One of Africa's great birding provinces — the Karkloof crane hides, mist-belt forests for Cape parrot, Zululand's Mkhuze and iSimangaliso, Sani Pass specials and coastal mangroves. Birding sites, hides, reserves and clubs, filterable by region and type.

💡 Many reserves and hides charge an Ezemvelo or municipal day fee, and some (Beachwood Mangroves, Darvill) open only on set days or by permit. Sani Pass birding crosses into Lesotho — take a passport, or go with a guided tour. Early mornings are best for forest and grassland specials.
